Personal Interests, Attitudes and Values – PIAV
Online Assessment
The Personal Interests, Attitudes and Values ( PIAV ) assessment measures the WHY of a person's actions, leading to an
understanding of what drives the individual's behavior and the attitudes that move him/her into action.
What is an Attitude?
In 1928, Eduard Spranger, in his book Types of Men, identified 6 attitudes or world-views.
These attitudes are a type of window through which we view the world and seek fulfillment in our lives. Whether participating in a discussion,
activity or career that is in line with our attitudes, we will value the experience. Conversely, if the conversation, activity or career
is "against" his/her dominant attitudes, the person will be indifferent or negative toward the experience, possibly causing stress.
Personal Interests, Attitudes and Values measures the relative prominence of 6 basic interests or attitudes
(a way of valuing life) for an individual.
Based on the person's choices, the PIAV report ranks his/her relative passion for each of the 6 attitudes.
The top 2 and sometimes 3 attitudes cause the individual to move into action. He/She will feel positive when
talking, listening or doing activities that satisfy his/her top attitudes.
The 6 attitudes include.
Theoretical
A passion to discover, systematize and analyze; a search for knowledge.
Utilitarian
A passion to gain return on investment of time, resources, and money.
Aesthetic
A passion to experience the impressions of the world and achieve form and harmony in life; self actualization.
Social
A passion to eliminate hate and conflict in the world and to assist others in becoming all they can be.
Individualistic
A passion to achieve position and to use that position to affect and influence others.
Traditional
A passion to seek out and pursue the higher meaning in life and achieve a system for living.
The PIAV report shows each of the 6 attitudes compared to a National Average.
The PIAV report helps the individual know the attitudes that drive his/her actions and also to recognize the attitudes of other people
and how the attitudes of others might interact with his/her own.
